I guess I'm fortunate. Dad spent his teens in the 50s and 60s and has always been into music. Since he was 20 when I was born, I'm also a music lover, and of many genres. Most of the best music ever written and performed came before the 1990s, IMO.

I wouldn't call myself a metal head, but I love music from all genres and yeah, some of it has to be played louder than a whisper. Fortunately, Dad still loves all that music so the volume can be up in the car when we're driving together. Or anywhere, unless we're talking.

Maybe you can get your dad a pair of noise cancelling headphones so you can rock out on your drive?

Or have a talk with Dad and tell him you just need an hour to yourself sometimes that doesn't include going to church. Then bring him something nice when you return home. Dads always love sweet treats. Make it worth his while ;-)

Good luck!
