I do this all the time, inadvertently. I tend to crochet or knit while watching/listening to movies and TV, so I hear the show more so than watch it. It's definitely a great way to tune into dialog, as well as hearing structure and ambient sounds, etc. that make up the scenes. I highly recommend this method!
